About the Role

SF or Remote (Continental US)

We are seeking a talented chief of staff to work with our team. This person will be responsible for directly supporting the CEO and supporting the executive team with meeting and event preparation, project management, strategic planning and alignment, hiring and management, advising on company policies, and assisting with presentations to the board. This role is a unique opportunity for an experienced operations manager to enhance their skillset and build relationships with key education, corporate, and philanthropic influencers.

CodePath is an innovative education 501(c)(3) nonprofit building the largest pipeline of high-performing, underrepresented software engineers in the industry. We are the first organization in history to centralize student support, curriculum, and classroom operations across dozens of for-credit, in-person college classrooms. Our unique combination of student-led courses with remote support by professional engineers and a robust online learning platform produces scalable, high impact programs that have received major endorsements from professors, large funders, and major corporations.

CodePath.org develops and delivers a wide variety of programs and supports students over multiple years, reaching students in college starting before Freshman year and then all the way through to post-graduation and entering full-time software roles.

CodePath.org provides curriculum and programs for college students across the United States, often offered for-credit at campuses, including at many HBCUs, HSIs, women’s colleges, and state colleges. CodePath.org is supported and funded directly by the top technology companies including Microsoft, Facebook, Walmart, and many others.


About You

As a Chief of Staff, you will act as the right hand of the CEO and touch almost every aspect of the business. This role requires familiarity with strategic planning and exceptional execution You’ll play a crucial role in making the founding team more productive, organized, efficient and influencing the overall direction of the organization. The right candidate has strong experience working in high performing, high growth environments and is passionate about education, technology and it’s potential to transform lives.

We are open to a remote or onsite hire at our San Francisco office.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide executive support to the CEO spanning strategy, execution, and managing all external stakeholders including board members, advisors, and funders.
  • Help identify areas where leaders should direct their focus as well as metrics for success. They revisit those metrics regularly and evaluate progress against them.
  • Lead annual strategic planning process for the company by acting as a project manager and ensuring alignment with the CEO and leadership team.
  • Help determine key performance indicators and update dashboards as needed.
  • Hire and directly manage others in CEO support roles, such as executive assistants, special projects managers, speech writers, etc.
  • Research, perform benchmarking, analyze data, and make recommendations.
  • Propose the creation of new systems and processes to streamline operations.
  • Coordinate agendas for CEO approval before leadership team and board meetings.
  • Organize company retreats, conferences, and other special events.
  • Prepare leaders for upcoming meetings by ensuring they have all the information necessary to be productive and engaged.
  • Help draft company newsletters, reports, pitch decks, speeches, and presentations on their behalf.
  • Prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 2-3 years of similar experience, preferably in a startup and tech environment
  • Interested in the education space and has a personal connection to our impact/mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Strong command of English usage, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using small team size collaboration and productivity tools
  • Exceptional Organizational skills
  • Previous teaching, volunteering, or mentoring experience a plus
  • Experience talking to and working with engineers is a plus

  • Must be comfortable in a small-team early-stage environment: able to process new information quickly, ask questions, and then execute or delegate with high productivity as tasks arise.
  • Must be highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple projects with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and collaborative role spanning operations, marketing, accounting, billing, and human resources.
  • Must be a highly resourceful team-player who can work independently
