CodePath is a national nonprofit that brings together employers, students, and colleges to eliminate inequities in tech education and provide underrepresented students with a path toward economic mobility. Our programming centers on the needs and successes of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and low-income Computer Science students. Founded in 2017, CodePath has taught over 10,000 students and delivered courses across over 70 universities. We are supported by some of the largest and most well-respected organizations, including Andreessen Horowitz, Blue Meridian Partners, Cognizant Foundation, Comcast, Google, Meta, Salesforce, Walmart, and Workday, among others.
The Director of Strategic Partnerships, ATL, leads CodePath’s presence and expansion in Atlanta.The Director will primarily be responsible for managing CodePath’s relationships with Atlanta-based universities, colleges, and funders and have secondary responsibilities regarding CodePath’s community engagement and local business development. We anticipate a 70/30 split.
As CodePath’s subject matter expert for Atlanta, this role will also advise other CodePath teams like our Student Marketing, Programs, Partnerships, and Development teams to adapt their work to fit Atlanta’s unique community.
Success in this role means
CodePath has expanded on existing and formed strong new relationships with key universities in the Atlanta region (ex: Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, and the Atlanta University Center schools). Over time, CodePath will deliver systemic change at these universities, positively impacting the student experience, curriculum, and culture.
We increase enrollment of Atlanta-based students in CodePath’s programs from 100 to 500-700 in the next two years, of which 60% identify as Black, Latinx, Indigenous, or come from low-income backgrounds.
We activate new fundraising and corporate partnerships in the Atlanta region to support our mission to diversify our nation’s most competitive tech roles
We develop a strong brand presence in Atlanta, and we’re known as the catalyst to create a technically excellent workforce at scale while delivering economic mobility to the region
Job requirements
Student and University Thought Leadership
Lead our existing relationships and build new relationships with regional university partners, to enable CodePath courses throughout Atlanta
Advise our Student and University Marketing team, to drive towards the successful launch and implementation of CodePath programs and opportunities while serving Atlanta’s community needs
In conjunction with our Student and University Marketing, build new and cultivate existing relationships with university presidents, provosts, CS Chairs, professors, and select students to advance CodePath objectives and impact
Act as a liaison between the universities and CodePath’s Programs team to enable the delivery of a high-quality student experience through CodePath’s courses and career opportunities
Share program performance, insights, and learnings with university partners to inform our growth and continuous improvement
Community and Business Development
Identify and execute on ways in which CodePath can earn the Atlanta’s community trust and attract allies to our mission of eliminating inequities in tech
Manage critical relationships with Atlanta funders and partners, driving towards account health, retention, and growth while ensuring we are delivering on our commitments to funders
Identify new revenue opportunities, either individual or institutional, and hand off to Corporate Partnerships or Development teams. Help these teams evaluate and prioritize new opportunities.
Market Presence and Brand
Advise our Marketing team on local brand development strategy to grow CodePath’s name recognition and presence in the region
Identify the right events, conferences, media, local influencers, and speaking opportunities to pursue to highlight CodePath, our students and partners, and our leadership team.
Be the face of CodePath in Atlanta and keep our core values and our impact centered in all of our work
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in partnerships development, marketing, and/or business development/sales
Commitment to enabling the success of diverse talent in the tech industry
Proven track record of defining, developing, and managing successful partnerships
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
An open and effective communicator across different audiences (i.e., university presidents, engineering leaders, HR leaders, executive directors of corporate foundations)
Exceptional project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities effectively
Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Technical proficiency is a major plus (i.e., former CS student, has coding/programming experience or a tech enthusiast)
Tech nonprofit or startup experience is also a plus
