About the Role
The Director of Student and University Marketing will lead our team into our next phase of exponential growth. In the last two years, CodePath has dramatically grown our student enrollment (from 2,600 students in 2020 to nearly 7,000 students in 2022) and our university presence (from 26 schools to 70). We're now looking for a leader to optimize the enrollment machine and take us to the next level.
Develop, execute, and evaluate strategies to activate more underrepresented minority students and students from low-income backgrounds to participate in CodePath's programs. Our goal is to admit 10,000 students in 2023, with 60% being underserved (Black, Latino/a, Indigenous, low-income), and 40% self-identifying as Black, Latino/a, Indigenous
Build the ecosystem and community at target universities, i.e., activating and nurturing relationships with CS departments, faculty, career centers, and student clubs
Lead a global team of growth marketers (student marketing, outreach managers/coordinators, student ambassadors, and admissions operations) to drive student enrollment and university expansion
Conduct direct student outreach and acquire enrollees via digital marketing campaigns (email, social media, call campaigns, etc.)
Identify, plan, and attend key events, conferences, and campus visits
Create and distribute student-facing content to inspire and empower students to enroll and participate in our programs
Measure, report and use data to inform leadership on the ROI of growth marketing efforts while driving down cost per student/university acquisitions
Most importantly, you want to help students reach the pinnacle of success in tech, and you constantly think about creating systemic change in the industry.
Annual and quarterly planning to help CodePath scale student enrollment and university presence (ex: enroll 10,000 students and partner with 90 universities by the end of 2024)
Develop, own, and test strategies, channel mix, and campaigns to reach different student personas and geographic regions to enroll in CodePath’s programs (beginner/intermediate/advanced courses, immersive programs, etc.)
Inform leadership regularly on the growth outcomes, various levers, correlations, and interdependencies between the levers
Responsible for the department's financial forecasting, modeling, and budgeting
Build and manage a high-velocity growth marketing function (student marketing, outreach managers/coordinators, student ambassadors, and admissions operations) while mentoring and coaching the team to optimize and maximize efficiency
Design and implement hiring, onboarding, and skill development plan for all direct reports (currently a team of 7 FTEs/contractors)
Content and Storytelling
Create and distribute compelling content (i.e., blog posts, videos, newsletters, social content) to inspire and empower students with stories, strategies, and tools to achieve tech excellence
Create other distribution channels, i.e., email campaigns, events, student ambassador program
Automation and Data
Savvy in using standard marketing automation tools (i.e., HubSpot, Pardot, Marketo) to set up and execute email campaigns, sequences, automated workflows, SMS campaigns
Track performance metrics on a daily or weekly basis and iterate quickly to optimize, proactively detect, and immediately course correct
Lead admissions operations to build a world-class data, analytics, and ops stack and KPI framework across conversions, applications, prework completions, enrollment, retention, virality, referral, and more to drive a high-velocity growth function
Internal/External Collaboration and Thought Leadership
Collaborate with Programs to define the end-to-end student journey, user personas, and inform the marketing/growth plan (channel mix, content, etc.)
Collaborate with the Revenue team to identify and forecast potential opportunities for expansion and growth
Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships team to scale regional growth

Our ideal candidate has experience working in a high-growth tech start-up, possesses strong people management skills, communicates effectively, and can develop strong collaborative relationships with university stakeholders. Additional qualifications include:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience leading a high-performing growth marketing and outreach team
Possesses strong people management skills. Able to lead and support team while continually achieving impact and improvements across all areas
Strong communication skills, both externally and internally (up, down, across)
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, making sense out of chaos, and unafraid to roll up sleeves to get the job done
Experience with standard marketing automation tools, i.e., Hubspot, Marketo, Pardot
Comfortable with public speaking
Exceptional project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities effectively
Technical proficiency is a significant plus (i.e., former CS student, has coding/programming experience or a tech enthusiast, i.e., you enjoy reading Hacker News, TechCrunch and immersing yourself in the latest tech trends)
Tech nonprofit or startup experience is also a plus
