About CodePath

CodePath is an education technology nonprofit driving diversity in tech by addressing the 80% CS dropout rate of minority students on college campuses. We are building a world-class leadership team and seeking a talented and ambitious head of marketing to own our annual marketing strategy and execution and build a community of hundreds of thousands of students and professors over the next few years.

Our unique low-cost, high-impact programs have taught 2,500+ students across over 49 colleges and universities by supplementing their computer science programs with industry-trusted curriculum. By providing opportunities for students in underserved populations to take multiple years of rigorous, in-person programming courses for free and matching students to employers, CodePath eliminates the barriers underserved populations face to get jobs and thrive in technical careers.

We’ve just received major multi-year endorsements and funding from venture capital firms like Andreessen Horowitz and major companies like Walmart, Microsoft, and Facebook. As our first head of marketing, you’ll be stepping into a dream role at a well-funded, mission-driven organization that moves at tech startup speed.

Students often tell us that our industry-trusted, project-based courses are their favorite CS experiences. Professors love that we handle curriculum updates, grading, and student technical support. Best of all, our courses are free for students and universities making us the first organization to offer multi-year, in-person technical education at scale and completely free


What’s the job like?

  • You will lead marketing strategy for the company
  • You own the outcome of hitting our campus expansion and student enrollment targets to help us build relationships with 150 colleges and universities and 7000+ students in the next two years.
  • Secondary responsibilities include managing our national community of students and professors, owning all internal and external communications, and developing strategies to drive employer interest in our virtual career fairs.
  • As an early team leader, you will drive everything from strategy and annual planning to hands-on execution prior to building out the marketing team.

Key Activities

  • Own the company’s go-to-market strategy including defining and refining target personas, identifying opportunities for vertical & horizontal campus expansion and shaping the company’s value proposition to students and professors.
  • Develop our content strategy and assist in content creation.
  • Create the initial processes, systems, playbooks, workflows and select tooling for the marketing department.
  • Develop product positioning and strategies by gathering market intelligence, understanding competitive drivers, distilling market trends, and understanding the needs of students and professors.
  • Develop and deliver high-impact marketing assets, including website pages, presentations, virtual career fair materials, student and professor testimonial videos and more.
  • Create clear and concise marketing messages both internally and externally.
  • Manage internal and external resources, including hiring and onboarding, setting priorities, tracking performance, monitoring budget, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Define brand marketing strategy and key initiatives supporting it.



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong mission and vision alignment.
  • Master Storyteller with exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Strong understanding of C.S. education and technical upskilling landscape
  • Experience managing communications for technical communities
  • 5+ years of marketing experience, ideally in a tech company
  • Knowledge and experience in product marketing analysis, strategy, and execution.
  • Previous experience working in a small, high performing startup team
